The Dark ’N Stormy is a trademarked cocktail name (in many jurisdictions including most Western European countries, the Caribbean, America, and Asia but not Australia) owned by Gosling’s Rum.

This means that in order to call a drink a Dark & Stormy, it must be made with Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. If you use another brand of rum, you’re not legally allowed to sell or advertise it as a Dark and Stormy in most places.

Whatever you use or call it, it’s fun and tasty! Check out the recipe now.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Dark Rum (Gosling’s Black Seal)

  • 3 oz Ginger Beer

  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice, fresh (optional)

  • Garnish
  • Lime Slice / Wedge

Directions

  • Fill a highball glass with ice.
  • Add ginger beer and lime juice to glass.
  • Using a bar spoon, float rum on top.
  • Garnish & Enjoy!

Notes

  • How to “float” one alcohol on top of another? Slowly pour the liquor over the back of a bar spoon. Start with the spoon close to the bottom and move it up as the glass fills.

If your liquids start mixing together, pause for a minute. When you being pouring again, go a little slower.
